An Open Letter To All Of My Friends Who Take Selfies

The Belle Jar

Dear Friends Who Take Selfies,

I want you to know that I love it when you post pictures of yourself. I know selfies get a lot of bad press, but I think they’re rad. They give me a little window into your life, and you’d be amazed at how much I can get out of one little photo.

I love your pictures because I love seeing what you’re wearing – the outfits you build give me ideas about how to mix it up with my own wardrobe, and seeing you work your shit gives me courage to try clothing that I otherwise might have thought was too outlandish or revealing.

I love seeing how you do your hair and makeup. You look like a hot babe and I wish you would make YouTube tutorials explaining how you get your eyeliner just so. I want you to post pictures every time you change your…

If You Buy a Harry Potter Engagement Ring You Are Probably Awesome

The Belle Jar

A brief response to Kelly Conaboy’s post on Gawker, “If You Buy a Harry Potter Engagement Ring You Should Not Get Married“:

1. There are some very excellent reasons that people should not get married. They include such things as “the couple is too young to legally marry,” or “the couple believes marriage is an outdated patriarchal institution based on the premise that women are property,” or, especially, “the couple does not wish to get married.” However, nowhere on that list of reasons why two loving, consenting adults should not marry is “because they both like Harry Potter-themed jewellery.” No matter what your opinion of the oeuvre of J.K. Rowling, the fact that two grown-ass people who love each other also love her books does not mean they are somehow too immature to wed.

2. How about just being happy that people who share the same passions and interests…

Avengers age of ultron review

For someone who was counting the days down literally to watch this film , I kind of have mixed feelings on it . Though I don’t feel age of ultron captured the magic that the first film gave you , I feel that it was still a pretty good movie . Great visuals , action packed fight scenes , perfect comedic timing and a star-studded cast . What else could you want in highly anticipated sequel ??

To be honest I don’t know maybe the first avengers was just something that can never be recreated. I felt like a kid in a candy store , seeing all the avengers together for the first time on the big screen , that moment was kind of surreal . It was hard to believe but you were witnessing it first hand so like I said earlier it was a magical experience .

Now to age of ultron , the avengers start off trying to retrieve Loki’s staff that was seen on the previous avengers movie. As expected u see the avengers mowing threw foot soldiers  displaying impressive tag team moves and cracking jokes with each other during the opening fight scene . One of the good things about the sequel is the story caters to Hawkeye/Black widow / And the hulk . Those characters finally get to show some depth. At times the movie is all over the place there are so many subplots going on because there are so many characters and some scenes seem pointless because the movie never really builds on some of the subplots they touched on .

I don’t wanna give away any spoilers to the movie so overall I give this movie a B+ rating. There is enough action scenes and some lighthearted comedy to keep a marvel fan entertained . The introduction to some new characters and the obvious build up to the next marvel movie was enough to make this movie pretty good and interesting . I can’t wait to see what the next move more the marvel universe ………signing off twistermania

Marvels Daredevil series …

I want to start off by saying since May 4, 2012 the release of “The Avengers ” I have been chasing everything marvel.  From the iron man, captain America , Thor and even spinoffs like ” agents of shield” the TV series . I love how the marvel universe throws subtle pieces into all these stories that connects and paints the picture that the marvel universe is a living breathing world . And there are consequences that effects people’s lives on a smaller scale . That’s where Matt Murdock ( daredevil) falls in . I am immediately sucked into the story because it gives you the underdog feeling , the protagonist isn’t some playboy billionaire or a mythological God from another world he is pretty much an middle class relatable person who works a 9 to 5 . Charlie cox does an amazing job playing Matt Murdock . Before this series I looked at daredevil as some b list super hero with no real appealing story . I don’t wanna give any plot points away so all I’m going to say is I highly recommend this show if your into compelling and layered stories .

Signing off….. Twistermania
